Radiography is the medical profession that produces images of internal body structures using ionizing radiation (x-rays).  Related imaging modalities include computed tomography, angiography, and mammography.  Other imaging modalities include magnetic resonance imaging, radiation therapy, sonography and nuclear medicine.

A Radiographer is a professional qualified through education to assist physicians in providing patient care through the diagnostic use of imaging modalities.  The field of Radiologic Technology offers you the opportunity to become a member of an allied health professional team dedicated to preserving health and diagnosing disease.

Your Duties as a Radiographer would include:

  • Operating x-ray equipment and processing exposed images.
  • Positioning patients for diagnostic examinations.
  • Calculating proper exposure factors to achieve optimum radiographic image quality with minimum exposure to the patient.
  • Assessing the diagnostic quality of the radiograph.
  • Assisting the radiologist during specific procedures, assisting patients while in your care, and performing as a valued professional.
